Veteran female emcee Eve is the latest big act to be added to the line-up for highly anticipated Shaggy and Friends Benefit Concert.
The former Ruff Ryders first lady is the replacement act for R&B crooner Ne-Yo, who can no longer make the show due to a change in date.
Last week organisers announced that due to the election in Jamaica on December 29th, the shows date was pushed back from December 30th to January 7th.
Sharon Burke of Solid Agency, one of the organisers for the Shaggy and Friends, said Eve was confirmed last weekend.
“We confirmed her on the weekend. She was in London and we called her up and she immediately said yes,” Burke said.
“It wasn’t difficult at all, she is a friend of both Shaggy and myself and she loves children. She was very sensitive towards the cause and she loves Jamaica. Eve is a strong female in the business and she has always held her own,” added Burke.
Eve will be sharing the stage with the likes of Shaggy, Lauryn Hill, Maxi Priest, Half Pint, Cocoa Tea, Deneice Williams, I-Octane, Romain Virgo, Assassin AKA Agent Sasco, Wayne Marshall, Tami Chynn, Gyptian, Mr Vegas and more.
Tickets for Shaggy and Friends will cost $25,000 for platinum, $10,000 for gold and $5,000 for silver.
Proceeds will go to the Bustamante Hospital for Children through the Shaggy & Friends Make A Difference Foundation.
The Shaggy & Friends Make A Difference Foundation has over the last few years raised a total of $57 million for the Hospital. The funds covered the costs for an overall audit to be done on all medical equipment at the Bustamante Hospital. The foundation also purchased two new fully equipped dental chairs for the dental unit at the hospital as the unit was forced to close due to the non-functional dental chairs. The chairs were delivered and installed earlier this year.
The concert will be held at Jamaica House, St Andrew, on January 7.
