Bounty Calls For Jamaican Government Support Of Music And Unity In Dancehall

Dancehall veteran Bounty Killer wasted no time after his solid performance on Reggae Sumfest to put the Jamaican government on high alert.

Killer appearance along with Mavado at the Sumfest press conference, held at the Iberostar Hotel in Montego Bay, where he expressed his dissatisfaction with the relationship between taxation and government input into music. This came a mere week after tax authority confiscate dancehall deejay Elephant Man Mercedes Benz for unpaid taxes.

“I don’t see any development of the government towards music, an aspiring artiste cannot get a loan to assist in getting a demo done,” Bounty told journalist at the press conference.

“when you burst (buss) the taxman after you,” the outspoken artists said.

“At least some percentage must go back towards the revenue it come from,” he said.

Bounty Killer addressed on a wide range of topics including the issue of unity among dancehall artists, the state of emergency and the shooting of fellow dancehall artists O’Neil Edwards from Voicemail and Cobra.

“This morning was really warm and together. I even big up Vybz Kartel over and over. We do not have to be friends and associates, but we have to live in the same alliance. We do not have to be in the same allegiance, but we are all Jamaicans,” Killer told the gathering of journalists.
