Sean Paul is one of many dancehall legends celebrating their birthday this month. On January 9, 2019, the Jamaican music icon turns 46 and the entire music fraternity is coming together to wish him a happy birthday. Several dancehall artists including his close friend Chi Ching Ching have wish the deejay happy birthday on social media. Knowing SP he will likely keep a low profile and spend the day with his family and friends.

SP is one of the most commercially successful artists in dancehall’s history. In 2017, Sean Paul gets a special plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling over 26 million records. He is the only dancehall artist to consistently charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart over the past two decades. His mega hit with Sia “Cheap Thrills” topped the chart in 2016 and was named song of the summer.

“Gimme The Light” is arguably Sean Paul’s breakout hit. The song is featured on his 2002 landmark album Dutty Rock which helped forged the dancehall deejay into a global household name.
