International Reggae Day Today

Today July 1st, 2010 is celebrated as International Reggae Day, and media and fans all across the world are joining in the celebration. IRD is an annual media festival that aims to celebrate and bring more awareness to Jamaica’s rich musical legacy that is embedded in the country’s culture for decades.

Reggae music has for decades been a global phenomenon and impact millions of lives across the world. IRD was launch out of the growing need to increase awareness and spread the positive vibe in Reggae. This years theme is RedGoldGreen ILOVEJA along with the key message in Reggae Love and Unity.

Jamaicans and people across the Caribbean and the world are invited to participate in the ILOVEJA campaign today by wearing their Reggae colours, listen to Reggae, log on to iregaeday.com, drink a Red Stripe; donate to a Jamaican charity and plant a tree.
